The ACCCA Project’s Scientific Writing Course
Antecedentes
The Regional Institute for Population Studies of the University of Ghana (RIPS/UG) is implementing the ACCCA pilot action “Food Security and Adaptation to Climate Change in the Afram Plains of Ghana”. The purpose of the ACCCA project is to bring together stakeholders and scientific communities of developing countries in Africa and Asia to enable and support effective adaptation decisions that would reduce vulnerability to climate hazards, climate change and environmental change while also promoting sustainable development.
The ACCCA Project’s Scientific Writing Course will be held at the Regional Institute for Population Studies (RIPS), University of Ghana.
Objetivos del evento
Scientific Writing Course will cover all aspects of the scientific writing process;
- Topics to cover will include, principles of authorship; selecting a title; choosing a journal;
-
writing the abstract, introduction and method sections; presenting data;

writing the results and discussions sections; preparing references;

publication ethics and responding to reviewers and editors.
Objetivos del aprendizaje
After the course, participants will be asked to evaluate the course based on the following:

organization of sessions,
-
usefulness of the sessions in improving their writing skills,
- recommendation of the course to others, and,
- other additional comments about the course.
Metodología
The training will be delivered over three days and the main mode of delivery is by power point presentation to introduce participants to the theory on how to cover all aspects of the scientific writing process.
Hands on exercises and practical exercises will also be an important part of the training to involve participants and allow participants put into practice the theory.

National Service Personnel, masters students at different levels of their training and PhD candidates from various departments, centres and institutes of the University of Ghana
