UNITAR RISE-LAB 2026 South Sudan Phase One: Onboarding Webinar on Youth Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Food Security

Antecedentes
Phase One of UNITAR RISE-LAB 2026: Advancing Youth Skills in Business and Innovation for Food Security in South Sudan is the programme’s foundational learning stage. Running from July to August 2026, it helps participants understand food-security challenges, develop an entrepreneurial mindset, identify viable agribusiness opportunities, and build practical business skills that can support income generation and stronger livelihoods.

Phase One equips participants with the knowledge, tools, skills, and confidence to identify a real problem or business opportunity and establish an evidence-based foundation for developing a practical solution in Phase Two. It also introduces learners to the programme structure, learning platform, participation requirements, and completion expectations.
Objetivos del aprendizaje
By the end of the phase, participants will be able to identify a concrete and data-grounded business problem or opportunity; assess its feasibility through structured market research; measure its size and scope using relevant indicators and the Problem Sizing Canvas; and document and submit the required outputs for further ideation and solution development.
Contenido y estructura
The learning pathway covers food security and agricultural value chains, entrepreneurial mindset development, finding problems worth solving, scalable and sustainable enterprise development, financial management for growth, and digital entrepreneurship. The phase concludes with a practical assignment in which participants apply their learning to a selected problem or opportunity.
Metodología
The phase combines self-paced microlessons on the SafetyCulture platform, live webinars with experts and coaches, short videos, practical activities, additional resources, and peer learning through discussion forums. Lessons usually take three to seven minutes, downloadable for offline study, and require approximately two to six hours of learner effort per week.
Público objetivo
Phase One is designed for selected South Sudanese women and youth, including existing and aspiring entrepreneurs, students, recent graduates, civil servants, and representatives of the private sector and civil society. Participants are expected to be motivated to address food-security and livelihood challenges and to apply their learning within their communities and business contexts.

Delivered by UNITAR’s Division for Prosperity through the RISE-LAB team, Phase One is offered free of charge with the generous support of the Government and People of Japan. It contributes to UNITAR Strategic Objectives 1, 2 and 3 by strengthening individual capacities, addressing nationally relevant food-security and livelihood priorities, and building a connected learning ecosystem through digital learning, peer exchange, expert engagement, and continued progression into applied training and mentorship.
