Antecedentes
The GBS Green Innovation Challenge 2026 is an inter-school sustainability initiative designed to engage secondary school students in applied learning on SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and SDG 15 (Life on Land).
The programme is structured as a competition-based learning process where selected student teams present their proposals to a judging panel on 15 May 2026.
CIFAL London is implementing the event and reviewing the programme circle by providing quality assurance validation, reviewing participants’ outputs, and supporting recognition of student achievements during the event.
Objetivos del evento
The event aims to:
• Provide a structured platform for students to present sustainability solutions addressing SDG 7 and SDG 15;
• Assess students’ ability to communicate, justify, and defend their proposals in a formal evaluation setting;
• Evaluate innovation, feasibility, and SDG alignment of finalist projects;
• Strengthen students’ presentation, analytical, and critical thinking skills;
• Recognise outstanding student innovation through CIFAL London validation;
• Showcase selected projects at the GBS Dubai SDG Summit 2026;
• Strengthen institutional collaboration between GBS Dubai and participating schools.
Contenido y estructura
The competition consists of participants presenting detailed, research-backed proposals including prototypes (where possible), realistic data sources, and clear alignment with SDG 7 and SDG 15.
Metodología
The event is delivered as a structured evaluation session:
• Teams present refined proposals developed during the preparatory phase;
• Presentations include research evidence, visual materials, and applied solution design;
• A judging panel conducts Q&A sessions to assess depth of understanding and feasibility;
• Projects are evaluated against criteria of innovation, SDG alignment, clarity, and real-world applicability;
• Feedback is provided to all finalist teams.
Público objetivo
Higher secondary school students (Grades 11–12) from participating schools in the UAE.
Participants are student teams engaged in sustainability-focused project development, representing diverse academic backgrounds with an interest in innovation, environmental science, and social impact.
Información adicional
• The event represents a structured inter-school innovation process, culminating in on-campus presentations and expert evaluation.
• CIFAL London engagement is limited to the final showcase and quality assurance phase, ensuring alignment with UNITAR standards and SDG frameworks.
• A post-event evaluation questionnaire will be administered in line with CIFAL/UNITAR QA requirements.
• Feedback will be collected from participants and judges and analysed to support continuous improvement of future editions.
• Selected finalist projects may be showcased at the GBS Dubai SDG Summit 2026, extending the visibility and impact of student outputs.
• All presentations and submissions are retained as documented outputs of the learning process for QA and reporting purposes.
