CIFAL Philippines, Keep The Change: Youth Policy Lab
Antecedentes
The achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development requires the participation of all sectors, including the youth. According to United Nations World Youth Report 2020, estimates that young people aged 15 to 24 years account for 15.5 percent, or 1.21 billion, of the global population, with projections reaching to 1.29 billion by 2030. In the Philippines, around 4 million are aged 15 to 24. As both beneficiaries and partners in shaping the 2030 Agenda, the youth plays a key role in shaping the 2030 Agenda when provided with the knowledge and opportunities they need to thrive. In fact, more than one-third of SDG targets reference young people explicitly or implicitly, with a focus on empowerment, participation and/or well-being. Their role in all 17 Sustainable Development Goals and specifically contributes to Goal 17, encouraging effective partnerships. Recognizing the opportunity of young people, especially youth-led organizations, as a driving force for collective action on sustainable development, UP-CIFAL Philippines holds the Leaders for Global Goals, a Sustainable Development Goals Orientation for the Youth. Through education and engagement, it is pivotal that young people are given the platform to build their sense of ownership and continue momentum for global action to ensure that no one is left behind.
